Glass has been used for the building envelope for centuries. Over the last decades there has been a trend towards using glass for load-carrying elements. Glass has many excellent properties such as high compressive strength and a superior environmental resistance compared to other common building materials. The aim of this study was to investigate the strength of bolted and clamped under static load and pre-loading. A series of compression test was carried out to determine their failure pattern, load bearing capacity and to evaluate the deformation of glass panel. Besides that, the ultimate breaking load of point bolted and clamped glass panels were compared. The strength of bolted and clamped glass panels due to static and pre-loading was studied. The studies also investigated the failure pattern of the glass panels. From the the experiments carried out, the bending strength of glass between different types of glass fittings are varies. The ultimate breaking load of bolted glass panels is higher compared to clamped panels. The percentage difference under static loading is 33.87%. While, the percentage difference under pre-loading is 27.24%.
